Mito PRO 1500+ Review: I Tested Mito’s Most Popular Red Light Panel
Welcome to my review of the MitoPRO 1500+. This is the biggest full-body panel in Mito Red Light’s MitoPRO+ lineup, and it’s built for people who want to treat the whole body in one go instead of chasing one body part at a time with a small panel.
What makes this one interesting isn’t the size though. It’s the wavelengths. Most panels give you the two standard ones. Mito gives you a wider mix that’s better matched to what your cells actually respond to. You also get three modes: red only, near-infrared only, or both together. So you can point the panel at skin one day and deep tissue the next.
It comes from a US company that’s been in this since before red light got trendy, and the panel is FDA Class II registered with a stack of other certifications behind it.
One more thing worth knowing up front. The MitoPRO 1500+ also comes in several different setups, called multi-panel arrays. That means you can buy more than one and join them into a bigger panel. I break those down further down the page.
Mito red light panels are popular, but you might still be wondering if this one is any good before you buy. I tested it in real sessions to see how this mito red panel performs on power, wavelengths, and build.

Red Light Therapy Technology

RED LIGHT TECH OVERVIEW
The 1500+ Mito red light therapy panel has strong red light therapy tech. You get 300 LEDs and four wavelengths instead of the usual two, which is more than most panels bother with at this size. The irradiance is high too, so your sessions will be shorter. Put it all together and there’s really not much to complain about here. The tech is some of the best you’ll find on a home panel, and I’ll show you why in the sections below.
Understanding Red Light technology & specs

4 WAVE LENGTHS
Most panels give you two wavelengths. The MitoPRO 1500+ gives you four: 630, 660, 830, and 850nm. The panel has three modes. Red-only runs the two red wavelengths for skin work. Near-infrared-only runs the two infrared for deeper recovery. Both runs all four at once. So you actually choose which ones you want depending on what you’re treating that day.
- 630nm & 660nm (Red Light) – These go right into your skin. They help with collagen, circulation, and skin repair, so this is the range you want for surface stuff like fine lines, tone, and healing. I use the red-only mode when I’m focused on skin
- 830nm & 850nm (Near-Infrared Light – NIR) – These go deeper, down into muscle, joints, and tissue you can’t reach with red light alone. This is the range for recovery, soreness, and deeper aches. After a hard workout, this is what I run.

300 SINGLE CHIP LEDs
The MitoPRO 1500+ has 300 LEDs, and they’re single-chip. That means each LED fires just one wavelength at the time. So the 300 LEDs are physically split: some are dedicated red light, the rest are dedicated near-infrared. Single-chip isn’t a downside. Each LED does one job and does it at full strength, instead of splitting its output between two wavelengths.

FREQUENCY: CONTINUOUS
The MitoPRO 1500+ runs in continuous mode. The light stays steady the whole session, and there’s no pulsing option. That’s not a gap. Almost all the solid research on red light is done with continuous light, so it’s the version you actually want. Pulsing gets marketed as a feature, but there isn’t much proof it does anything extra.

IRRADIANCE AT 6”: 170mw/cm2
Irradiance is how much light energy actually reaches your skin, measured in milliwatts per square centimeter. The higher the number, the more energy you get per minute, so the less time you need per session. The MitoPRO 1500+ puts out over 170 mW/cm² at 6 inches. That’s high, well above a lot of panels out there. In practice it means about 10 minutes on one area is enough, so a full session doesn’t eat up your whole evening.
Functions
SIDE Control PANEL
The MitoPRO 1500+ gives you more control than a basic on-off panel. You run it from a digital panel on the side, or from the remote.
-
3 MODES – Red light only, near-infrared only, or both together.
-
BUILT-IN TIMER – Set your session length and the panel shuts off on its own
-
REMOTE CONTROL – Change modes and settings from across the room
Accessories
One thing I like about this mito panel is that it comes ready to hang. You get an over-the-door hook, steel cables, and vinyl straps in the box, so if you’ve got a spare door or some free wall space, you can set it up the day it arrives. That’s not a given, plenty of panels show up and leave you sorting out the mounting yourself.

DOOR HANGING KIT & STRAPS
The door hanging set is the easy way to get started. You hook it over a door, no drilling, no holes. The tradeoff is that a panel hanging on a door isn’t rock solid, it can move a little when you bump it. If you want it dead stable, the straps let you fix it to a wall instead. For most people the door option is enough, and it’s nice to have both.
VERTICAL FLOOR STAND (not included)
If a door or wall spot doesn’t work for you, the floor stand is the simple fix. It holds the MitoPRO 1500+ upright and rolls to wherever you want it in the room. This is the stand most people get for a single panel, because it makes the whole thing easy to move and easy to aim. It’s not included in your purchase unfortunately, but adding it won’t brake your wallet.
UNIVERSAL STAND (not included)
The universal stand is the step up. It can hold the panel flat as well as upright. Set it horizontal and you can lie down under it instead of standing for your session, which is more relaxing and easier on your back. It also handles the bigger array setups. For a single panel, the floor stand is all you need, so this one is really for going bigger or for anyone who’d rather lie down. Also not included unfortunately.

Multi-Panel Arrays
Here’s where the MitoPRO 1500+ gets flexible. You can definitely use it on its own as a full-body mito panel, but you can also join more than one together into what they call a multi-panel array. If one panel doesn’t cover as much as you want, you add another and connect them into a single bigger unit. You also save big money when buying multiple panels as a bundle.
| Configuration | Panels | Total LEDs | Power | Size (W × H) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MitoPRO 1000+ | 1 | 200 | 270W | 12″ × 24″ |
| MitoPRO 1500+ (this review) | 1 | 300 | 375W | 12″ × 36″ |
| MitoPRO 1000+ & 1500+ | 2 | 500 | 645W | 12″ × 60″ |
| 2× MitoPRO 1500+ | 2 | 600 | 750W | 12″ × 72″ |
| 2× MitoPRO 1000+ & 1500+ | 4 | 1,000 | 1,290W | 24″ × 60″ |
| 4× MitoPRO 1500+ | 4 | 1,200 | 1,500W | 24″ × 72″ |
The first configurations add the MitoPRO 1000+. It’s the smaller model, 12 by 24 inches against the 1500+’s 12 by 36, so bolting the two together gives you a taller panel that reaches more of your body at once. You can also pair two 1500+ panels, or go all the way up to four for a real wall of light.
Warranty
The MitoPRO 1500+ comes with a 3-year warranty, and you also get 60 days to send it back if it’s not for you. I like both of those. Sixty days is long enough to actually put a panel through real use and know whether it fits your routine, not the week or two some brands give you. And three years of coverage on something you’re planning to use most days is the kind of backing that tells you the company expects it to last.
On top of that, Mito lets you pay with HSA or FSA funds, and shipping in the US is free.

MITO PRO 1500+ RED LIGHT THERAPY PANEL

Best for Ease of Use
After using the MitoPRO 1500+ for a while, what stays with me is how little I had to think about it. I’d step in front of it in the morning, run a quick session, and get on with my day. With over 170 mW/cm² coming off it, you don’t need long to feel like you’ve had a proper session.
The flexibility is what won me over. Some days I only wanted the red light for my skin, other days the near-infrared after a hard workout, and the three modes made switching between them easy. It became part of my routine.
It also feels well made. It’s built in the US and carries the medical-grade certifications, and I’ve tested a lot of panels that felt flimsy the moment you touched them. This isn’t one of them. You trust it to still be working years from now.
Would I recommend it? Yes, as long as you’re someone who’ll actually use a panel regularly. If you want the real thing and you’ll put it to work, the MitoPRO 1500+ is one I’m happy to point people to.
Is the MitoPRO 1500+ the Best RLT Panel For You?
Here’s why this is your ideal full body panel:
- ✅ Skin Care and Deep Recovery in One: Point it at your face and skin one day, your sore back and muscles the next. You don’t need a second device for the deeper stuff.
- ✅ Your Whole Body in a Few Minutes: It’s big and strong enough to treat your entire body in one short session, so it fits even a packed day.
- ✅ Room to Grow Later: Start with this one panel now. If you want more coverage down the line, you add panels instead of buying a whole new setup.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the MitoPRO 1500+ compare to other options?
This mito red light panel review focuses on the 1500+ alone, but I also put together a full comparison of the top red light therapy panels you can buy. It runs through price, warranty, what comes in the box, the standout features, how well each one performs, and the tech inside them.
Can I trust Mito as a brand?
You can. Mito is a US company with a strong name in the red light space. Have a look at my full brand review for the details, or go straight to their site to see for yourself.
Do full-body panels work better than smaller ones?
It comes down to what you want. A full-body panel like this Mito panel treats a large area in one go, which saves time and suits general wellness. A smaller device is better when you only want to hit one spot, like your face, a single joint, or a sore muscle.
Can Red Light Therapy work for my particular problem?
Most likely. Red light therapy doesn’t work on just one issue, it works at the cell level. The red and near-infrared light reaches into your body and helps your cells make more energy, while calming swelling and improving blood flow. In plain terms that can mean quicker healing, less pain, and better all-round health, whether your thing is skin, sore muscles, achy joints, low energy, or just wanting to feel better. There’s real research behind it, but there’s also a lot of hype online, and my job is to help you tell what actually works from what’s just marketing.
Should I Try Red Light Therapy for Skin Care?
Used regularly, red light therapy raises collagen, improves circulation in the skin, and brings down inflammation. The research supports it for anti-aging, smoother texture, and healthier skin when you stick with it over months. My full breakdown of red light therapy for skin care walks through how it works and what kind of results to expect.
Can You Lose Weight With Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy prompts fat cells to release what’s inside them, and your body then burns it off. The effect is real but slow, and it adds up when you pair it with an active lifestyle. There’s more in my red light therapy for weight loss guide.
Will Red Light Therapy Work for My Hair Loss?
Red light therapy goes after hair loss by waking up dormant follicles, boosting blood flow to your scalp, and easing the inflammation that holds growth back. The research shows it does best on pattern baldness and thinning hair when you keep your sessions consistent. My red light therapy for hair loss guide covers the science and sets honest expectations for your results.
Do Red Light Therapy devices have FDA approval?
Yes. The FDA cleared red light devices as far back as 2002 for easing minor joint and muscle pain, arthritis, muscle spasms, and poor circulation. More clearances followed: muscle relaxation and stiffness in 2003, carpal tunnel in 2009, hair loss in 2010, knee arthritis pain in 2013, and from 2018, softening wrinkles, faster wound healing, and recovery after cosmetic work.
Can I rest my body directly against the Panel?
No, don’t lean on it. The panel isn’t made to take your weight. Keep it on a stand or hang it from a door.
What distance should I keep from the panel?
Stay at least 3 inches back. Most people get the best results somewhere between 4 and 8 inches from the panel.
Should I be undressed during treatment sessions?
You get the best results on bare skin, since clothing blocks most of the light. The real benefit happens where the light touches you directly, though better cell function and circulation can bring some whole-body effect too. That’s why big panels suit full-body sessions, while smaller ones are better for one area at a time.
Is Red Light Therapy dangerous or unsafe?
It’s very safe when you use it right. Unlike UV, it won’t damage your DNA or burn you, because the wavelengths are safe ones. Side effects are rare, maybe a little warmth or short-lived redness if you sit too close or go too long. Good devices are EMF-tested and meet the standards, so you can use them at home or in a clinic without worry.
Be careful if:
- You’re pregnant: Check with your doctor before starting red light therapy.
- You’re sensitive to light: Ask a doctor if you have a condition or take medication that makes you more light-sensitive.
- You have active skin cancer: Don’t put red light on cancerous areas without your doctor’s go-ahead.
- You have epilepsy or seizures: Bright light can be a trigger, so get medical approval first.
- You have eye problems or recent eye surgery: Don’t look straight at the LEDs, and wear eye protection if needed.
Will this damage my tattoos?
No, red light therapy is safe for tattoos. Unlike UV, it won’t fade the ink, and it may even help the skin around them look better. It calms swelling, supports healing, and improves skin health, so your tattoo colors are safe.
Can I use the Mito panel in a sauna or a humid room?
No, keep it out of the sauna and away from steamy, humid rooms. This is an electronic device, and heat and moisture can damage it over time. A normal, dry room is where it belongs. If you want red light and heat together, run your session first and use the sauna separately.
How often should I use the MitoPRO 1500+?
Around 10 minutes on each area is plenty, and 4 to 6 times a week works well for most people. Take at least one day off a week, since your body does its repair work in the rest periods, not just during the session. More isn’t better here, steady and regular beats long and occasional.
