Therasage Company History

Therasage starts with a diagnosis. Robby Besner’s teenage daughter was told she had chronic Lyme disease, and the family found that the medical system gave them more questions than answers. So they went looking themselves, through natural therapies and energy medicine, and settled on infrared heat, red light, negative ions, PEMF and gemstones. What they built for her became the company.

Two decades on it is still family run, from two US bases, one in Chatsworth, California and one in Boca Raton, Florida. The range has spread well beyond mats: portable saunas, healing pads, water filters, ozone, air, EMF shielding, even a toothbrush, and they resell 27 other wellness brands alongside their own. Robby still puts his diary online, and you can book fifteen minutes with him.

This is the weak spot. Therasage publishes no warranty page at all, so the length depends on which product you buy and which page or reply you read. Get the term in writing before you pay, and keep it.

An HSA or FSA holds money your employer set aside before tax. Therasage does not mention either one.

I found no HSA or FSA page and no Truemed link anywhere on their site. They take PayPal, Apple Pay, Shop Pay and Venmo at checkout.

Two reviews is too few to read anything into, and the listing at their Florida address is under the name Wellness Products of the World. Their California listing has no reviews at all.

No. Therasage holds no FDA registration and no clearance. Their footer carries an ETL badge and a CE badge, but no certificate is published anywhere on the site.

In a reply to a BBB complaint they explained why: the certificate is proprietary, goes to customs officials and carriers, and is not given to customers. That is their right, but it means you cannot check it yourself.

There are several entities behind the name: Therasage, LLC, which holds the trademarks, Wellness Products of America, Inc, a Florida corporation, and an older Therasage RX Corporation whose trademark was cancelled in 2017.

Yes, and it is one of the oldest names here. BBB records the business as incorporated in 2007 and accredited since 2019, with an A+ rating. It holds a live US trademark, runs two US hubs, publishes a phone number that a person answers, and offers free calls with the founder.

How long it has existed depends on who you ask. Their banner says 25 years, their About page says the 1990s, BBB says 2007.

They say so. The TheraPro page states that Therasage holds the sole patent on the seven-modality combination, and every page footer describes the saunas as patented.

I could not find a patent in their name, or in the founders’ names, in any search. What I did find are trademarks, which are a different thing. Treat the patent claim as unverified until they publish a number.

Unknown, and that is worth knowing before you spend $597. The product page lists nine programs from 3 to 64 Hz and lets you pick a sine or a square wave, but gives no intensity figure at all.

A customer who asked for the exact gauss and hertz so she could follow her physical therapist’s guidance was told it is proprietary information she was not allowed to have.

Heat. The serious reports are about pads running hotter than they should: one buyer describes a pad that burnt and blistered her back and left a scar, another a pad whose backing melted and peeled at a mid setting, and one a sauna that failed with a bang and smoke.

After that come controller failures, support that answers slowly or by automatic reply, and warranty refused once the term runs out. The counterweight is real too: their recent Trustpilot reviews name a support agent who replaced parts free, years after purchase.
