Welcome to my review of the ApeBorn Fitness PEMF Pad. When a client asks me which PEMF device to get but is watching their budget, I usually point them toward this one. It’s a small pad, 11.8 x 11.8 inches, and it promises PEMF and far-infrared therapy without the premium price tag.

Sure, it’s not going to compete with the high-end pads, but sometimes you don’t need all the bells and whistles. What caught my interest was how ApeBorn managed to fit the essential PEMF features into something this affordable and this easy to carry around. After testing it myself, I found some pleasant surprises. I also found a few limitations that you should know about before you buy.

This is a soothing, non-invasive therapy that uses far-infrared light (5-14 μm). You can’t see this light, but it slowly heats the pad up to 160°F (70°C). The warmth penetrates deep into the body, and different heat levels can trigger different wellness effects.

My FInal verdict

The ApeBorn PEMF Pad is what I usually recommend to clients who want something affordable that still has the essential PEMF features. At 11.8 x 11.8 inches it’s small, and it still does what it’s supposed to do. It’s very basic, but it combines PEMF and FIR therapy, and for this price that’s good value.
What you give up are the preset programs and all intensity and frequency settings. It runs on A/C power and needs to stay plugged in, so you’ll mostly use it at home.
That said, it does come with a free carrying pouch, which makes it easy to move around. If you want something portable, its size and weight work in your favor.

It’s also small, 11.8 x 11.8 inches, so it works on one area of your body at a time. For a tight budget, or if you want something you can carry around easily, that can be enough.

Still, read the warranty and return terms before you order, like you should do with any brand you haven’t bought from before. They do for some things, and less for others. PEMF therapy has real science behind it, but the results vary depending on what you’re treating. It works well for some conditions. For others there isn’t much research yet, and that’s where a lot of the hype out there comes from. Some brands list every possible benefit as if they were all proven in the same way, and they aren’t.

It depends on what you’re dealing with. Different conditions need different frequency settings and session times to get the best results, so there isn’t one setting that’s right for everybody. It can help, yes. The pad is small enough to go under your pillow, or you can lie right on it. There’s no sleep program to select, because the pad has no preset programs. Keep in mind that the pad has to stay plugged in the whole time, so you need an outlet close to your bed. And like any PEMF device, it’s something you use regularly, not once in a while.

Yes. Place the pad directly on the area that’s bothering you, which for most people is the lower back. You can do that lying down, or sitting, with the pad between your back and the chair. The pad only covers the spot where you put it. If the pain is in more than one place, you’ll have to move it. You also have the far-infrared heat on the same spot, if you like some warmth on a sore back.
