Celler8 Max Specs and Features

Reading the Spec Sheet

1-20HzPEMF Frequency Range

The Celler8 MAX focuses on intensity rather than frequency. The frequency range is quite narrow, and it only goes up to 20 Hz. But I have to give them credit for this. At such a high intensity, reaching higher frequencies would require too much power. You wouldn’t be able to run this device from a regular outlet at home.

2400-24000GaussPEMF Intensity Range (Loops)

The single big loop and the dual small loops deliver the highest intensity PEMF signal. An intensity this high is suited for clinics and professional use. But you can adjust it from 10% to 100%, and dial it down to use it for general wellness.

800-8000GaussPEMF Intensity Range (Mat)

The mat and the chair-mat applicators generate a lower intensity signal than the loops, but at 800 to 8000 Gauss it’s still pretty high. Like with the loops, you can adjust it from 10% to 100%.

1-2PEMF Coils

The big loop is itself a big PEMF coil. The dual small loops have a coil each, and the two coils sit in parallel, facing the same direction. This is known as a Helmholtz coil or butterfly coil. With this setup the magnetic field goes evenly through the area you are treating, from one side to the other. It doesn’t get weaker in the middle. That makes the small loops a very good choice for “sandwiching” smaller joints and areas like the ankles, knees, wrists, hands, elbows, and shoulders.

SinusoidalWaveform

The Celler8 MAX delivers PEMF therapy through a sinusoidal waveform, which has a rapid rise and fall, and pulses with a high slew rate.

Celler8 MAX Functions and Controls

How you control it

The Celler8 MAX has a control panel built into the main unit, and it gives you full control over your PEMF sessions. It’s a touchscreen panel that lets you set the frequency and the intensity of each applicator independently, so you have many different treatment options. You can also set the timer of each applicator. This is what I call “full control.”

Celler8 MAX Remote Control

This is another way to control the Celler8 MAX, without having to get to the device. It’s very useful when you want to adjust the settings but you are already lying on the mat, or sitting on the chair mat. Or even when you have already locked the dual loops around your knee or elbow. It doesn’t have a button to change the timer, so you’ll have to reach the main unit to do that.

What Settings Does the Celler8 MAX Have?

Frequency control

Fully Adjustable

You can manually increase and decrease the frequency (in increments of 1 Hz) with the remote control or directly on the touchscreen panel of the device.

Intensity control

Fully Adjustable

The device lets you adjust the intensity in increments of 10%, from 10% to 100%. You can do it from the remote or on the touchscreen panel.

Continuous Pulse

Available

Press the button to turn on the continuous pulse mode, which delivers pulses with no pause between cycles. You shouldn’t use this mode for more than 20 minutes.

Preset programs

You get 12 programs that target specific areas of the body, plus 3 core modes focused on relaxation, recovery, and accelerated health and wellness. You can adjust every program, and set the time, the frequency, and the intensity you prefer.

Celler8 MAX Applicators

You can connect two applicators to the Celler8 main unit at the same time. The picture below shows the two applicator ports.

Mat Applicators

When you buy the Celler8 MAX you can pick one of 3 options: the full-size body mat, the medium size body mat, or the chair mat. The final price depends on which one you choose, and the chair-mat is the most expensive.

Full-Body Mat

The Celler8 Max body mat applicator comes in two sizes. It’s the most common option, and it lets you lie down and relax during your PEMF therapy sessions.

Chair-Mat

The chair-mat applicator is the best option if you spend a lot of time sitting. It fits any chair, and lets you get PEMF therapy at any time, without interrupting your work.

Loop Applicators

Large Loop

The large loop gives you a high intensity treatment on a specific area of your body. You’d use it for focused recovery, or when one spot needs support. It can cover a larger area on its own, or you can use it together with the body mat. If you want a more intense session, hold the loop while you are lying on the mat. This creates a sandwich effect, and since you are between the two applicators, you get the most power out of the session.

Dual Small Loops

The dual small loops are made for precise treatments. You can secure them together with the small clips at the top of both loops. This way you sandwich a single area between them, for a deeper and more concentrated treatment. Or you can separate them and treat two different areas at the same time. The loops work on their own, and you can also use them together with the body mat.

Is the Celler8 MAX Worth it?

4.8out of 5

My Final verdict

This is the device I recommend to clinics and other professional PEMF practitioners. The Celler8 MAX is a high-intensity device that anyone can use. I’d suggest leaving the higher intensity settings to professionals. For personal use and general wellness treatments, you can dial the intensity down to a level that fits. It comes with several accessories and applicators, and you can use them at the same time to get any kind of sandwich effect. It’s certainly not cheap, but if you are a professional, or if you are all-in on PEMF therapy, this device is well worth the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, I think you can trust them. What convinced me is a line in their own manual, where Celler8 states that their products are not medical devices. Many brands in this industry love to show FDA badges that mean nothing, so putting that in writing is a point in their favor. Celler8 is also a specialist with a small and focused catalog. I prefer that to what some competitors do, which is selling a bit of everything. Their marketing is still marketing though, so keep some skepticism for the health claims. I’d tell you the same about any brand.
I’ve put everything I know about them on my Celler8 reviews page, and you can also visit their official site.

It can, but not for every problem. PEMF is not snake oil. The FDA approved it in 1979, and hospitals have been using it on stubborn bone fractures ever since. Reviews of clinical trials also support it for pain, and that includes low back pain. The trouble is that the internet promises much more than the research shows. For every condition with real trials behind it, you’ll find 10 claims with nothing but marketing behind them, like weight loss, skin and detox.
So yes, but check every claim before you believe it. In my guide to the benefits of PEMF I go through them one by one, and separate the science from the noise.

I’d start from the programs. The Max has 12 of them, each for a specific area of the body, plus 3 core modes called Relax, Recover and Accelerate. The device shows you the recommended settings for every session. You can still change the time, the frequency and the intensity of each program, and there’s a Custom mode too. When to do your session depends on your goal. The evening works for sleep and relaxation, and the hours after training for recovery.
Each condition also has its own frequency range that tends to work best, and that’s too much detail for a single answer. The Max covers 1 to 20 Hz, so check my PEMF Frequency Chart and find the right protocol for you inside that range.

It can help, yes. Celler8 lists better sleep among the uses of the Max, under nervous system balance. Using it is easy. In the evening you lie on the full body mat, choose the Relax mode and keep the intensity low. A session lasts up to 30 minutes, so plan it before you go to bed. It helps because PEMF seems to move your nervous system toward its rest state, and that’s the state your body needs to fall asleep. Just don’t expect it to work like a sleeping pill. The effect builds over days, not minutes.
My guide on PEMF for sleep has everything else you need, including the research and a weekly protocol.

Yes, it should. Bone health is the claim with the longest scientific record in this industry, because PEMF started out in medicine as a bone treatment. For osteoporosis you also have trials with results that can be measured. In one of them, 95 men with weakened bones added PEMF to their exercise. They gained bone density at the hip and spine, and 6 months later the gains were still there. With the Max you can lie on the full body mat, which covers your hips and spine. Or you can place a wrist or an ankle between the dual small loops. But PEMF doesn’t replace your treatment. It’s a complement, and it belongs next to your medication, your diet and your exercise.
On my page about PEMF for osteoporosis you’ll find the studies behind it and a full weekly plan for your bones.

I’d say it is. The full body mat goes up to 8,000 Gauss, so it has the intensity to reach the deeper tissue and not only the surface. It covers your whole back too, and all you have to do is lie on it, pick a program and let it work. If your pain is in one spot, you have the large loop, which is made for sessions on a specific area. And since the unit has two ports, you can run the mat and the large loop at the same time.
Before you start, have a look at my page on PEMF for back pain. It has the research behind it and a weekly protocol you can follow.

Celler8 recommends starting with a few sessions per week, so your body can adapt to the higher intensity of the Max. Once you feel comfortable you can add more, little by little, up to daily sessions if you want. In any case, follow the guidance that comes with the device.

Start with short sessions of around 5 minutes, to let your body adjust. Low and slow is what Celler8 recommends for the Max. When your body is used to it you can make the sessions longer, and over time go up to 30 minutes. According to Celler8, this helps you avoid detoxing too much while you still get the most from your sessions.

A low one, at least in the beginning. Your body needs time to adapt, so start low and raise the intensity slowly, when you feel ready for it. The Max can be set anywhere from 10% to 100%. This lets you adjust each session to what you want from it, whether that’s relaxation, recovery or performance.

No, in normal use it doesn’t. The Max is built with solid state technology and quality components, designed to stay reliable for a long time. Older spark gap systems rely on mechanical parts that wear out or have to be replaced every so often. The Max has nothing like that. All it needs is some basic care, which means keeping it clean, storing it in a dry place and following the operating guidelines. If you ever have a problem, the Celler8 support team is there to help. But in most cases your Max should perform the same way for years, with no routine maintenance.

Because solid state gives a cleaner and more consistent PEMF signal than the older spark gap systems. Spark gap is an outdated method, first used over 100 years ago. It creates the pulse by making a high voltage spark jump across an air gap. This generates a lot of high frequency “electrosmog” that nobody wants. The waveform is also crude, and it changes with factors like humidity. Solid state electronics control the intensity, the frequency and the shape of the pulse with precision. So you get a reliable signal that repeats the same way, without the unnecessary electromagnetic noise. This makes solid state more efficient, and safer if you use it for a long time. It’s also a better match for the clean PEMF, backed by research, that Celler8 designed the Max to deliver.

Strong magnetic pulses can stimulate the muscles and cause involuntary twitches, known as fasciculations. A mild twitch can sometimes feel like a massage, but too much of it gets uncomfortable. When it happens, it means the intensity is high enough to reach the motor threshold. But the twitching itself isn’t linked to faster or better healing. It’s only a side effect of the stronger fields.

Yes. Celler8 recommends taking off your watch and putting away electronic devices and bank or credit cards before you use the Max. It’s a high intensity PEMF system, and its strong pulsing magnetic fields can interfere with electronic circuits, magnetic strips and RFID chips.
