This is my review of the Grooni Wellness PEMF Chair Mat. When clients ask me how to get PEMF therapy during their workday, I point them toward chair mats. The Grooni Chair Mat caught my attention because it promises full-body coverage at 39×20 inches and still works at the office. I wanted to see if it really does both.

PEMF frequency tells you how many times the magnetic field cycles in one second, counted in hertz (Hz). On the Grooni Chair Mat it goes from 1 to 30 Hz. That’s a wide range, so the technology is good and you can use the mat for more treatments and conditions.

PEMF intensity is the strength of the magnetic field that comes out of the mat, and it’s measured in gauss. The Grooni Chair Mat reaches up to 3.5 Gauss. It’s a low intensity, fine for daily use and for treatment, and very safe.

The waveform is the shape of the pulse as time goes by, and it’s what decides how quickly the field rises and falls. This mat uses a sinusoidal, rounded wave that goes up and down gently.

The Grooni digital controller lets you regulate the frequency by pressing the plus and minus buttons. The preset programs only run as high as 50 Hz, but with the controller you can set it to any value up to 100 Hz.

My FInal verdict

The Grooni Wellness PEMF Chair Mat Pro is a solid mid-range option, and value is its strong point. The PEMF technology is quite good. The intensity is what you get from most chair mats, but the frequency range is wide, so you have more treatments to choose from.
What you don’t get is red light therapy. The mat still does well on most other things, like far-infrared heat and negative ions. You also get a carry bag, which makes it easier to store and to move around. If you’re looking for great performance without breaking the bank, this chair mat is worth considering.

Yes, I think it is. Grooni has become a reputable wellness company, and their track record is very good. The best way to judge a brand is to see what happens after you pay, if something goes wrong or you change your mind. They give you a 30 day return policy and a 2 year manufacturing warranty. That’s not exceptional, but it means you are not stuck with a mat that doesn’t work for you. The price is fair as well, and you get a lot for your money.

Yes, there is quite a lot of research behind PEMF therapy, but the results change from person to person. Some health problems respond better than others. Bone healing and some types of pain are among the most studied, and that’s where the results are more convincing. You’ll find a lot of exaggerated claims online too, so be careful with anybody who promises that a mat will fix everything.
The studies use their own devices and settings, so your results at home can be different. One session won’t tell you much either, so give it some time before you judge. To tell the facts from the marketing, read my article on the proven benefits of PEMF.

It depends on what you want to use it for, because each condition has its own frequency and its own session length. On this mat the 13 preset programs are a good place to start. You set the session time on the controller, so you can start with short sessions and see how your body reacts. If you are treating a medical condition, ask your doctor first. It can help, yes, as long as you use the chair mat regularly. Bones respond to this kind of stimulation, and that’s why doctors have used PEMF devices for a long time on fractures that don’t heal. For osteoporosis, the studies on bone density look promising, even if they are still small and short. So think of the mat as something you add to your treatment, not something that replaces it.

Yes, and a chair mat suits back pain well, because your back rests right against it when you sit down. There is a PAIN RELIEF program too, which runs at 30 Hz and is meant to reduce inflammation and increase circulation. The studies on PEMF and low back pain generally show that it reduces the pain, even if most of them are small.
