Phymat Gemstones PEMF Mat: THE SHORT VERSION

2.9out of 5The Phymat Gemstones is the most accessible entry level mat if you are into meditation. It lacks PEMF functions and has only 5 chakra stones instead of 7, but the price makes up for it.

Right for

  • Spiritual PEMF seekers looking for a dedicated wellness tool on a budget.
  • Low intensity PEMF users that are ok with basic PEMF functions.

Welcome to my breakdown of the Phymat Gemstones PEMF Mat, a budget mat with a spiritual side.

Phymat has made a full-size mat with five chakra stones, at a price that won’t break the bank. The question is whether cutting costs also means cutting corners on the chakra balancing itself.

Phymat Gemstones PEMF Mat Specs and Features

Reading the Spec Sheet

50HzPEMF Frequency

PEMF frequency is how many times the magnetic field completes a cycle in one second, and it’s counted in hertz (Hz). The Phymat Gemstones mat is fixed at 50 Hz.

0.2GaussPEMF Intensity

The strength of the magnetic field coming out of the mat is called intensity, and the unit is the gauss. On the Phymat mat you get 0.2 Gauss, which means this one is a low-intensity PEMF device.

4PEMF Coils

A coil is hardware, not a setting: a loop of copper wire inside the mat that produces the pulsed field when the controller powers it. More coils don’t make a mat stronger, but they spread the field more evenly across the surface, so the number is about coverage.

SinusoidalWaveform

A waveform is the shape of the pulse over time, and that shape decides how fast the field rises and falls. This mat uses a sinusoidal wave, so the field goes up and comes back down in a smooth, rounded curve.

Other Therapies

Heating / Far Infrared Rays Therapy (FIR)

Up to 160°F

It gently warms up the mat and the gemstones inside it, up to 160°F (70°C). The heat slowly penetrates into the body, and the benefits can vary depending on how high you set the temperature.

Crystal Healing Therapy

5 Gemstones Types

The Phymat Gemstones Mat contains a mix of 5 crushed gemstones, and each one was chosen to match one of the body’s main chakras. Still, it doesn’t cover all of them, as two stones are missing to represent the seven energy centers.

  • Amethyst
  • Clear Crystal
  • Obsidian
  • Red Agate
  • Turquoise

Negative Ion Therapy

cc N/D

It starts when the gemstones heat up and release negative ions. These should help clean the air around you and support the body’s natural detox process.

What It’s Like to Own the Phymat PEMF Mat

Everything else on this page can be measured. What comes next can’t, and none of it will tell you if the Phymat Gemstones PEMF Mat is a good mat. It might tell you if you’ll still be using it a year from now, and that’s the question worth asking.

Portability

Low

No doubt this mat is heavy, because of the gems in it. Phymat gives you bag to carry it, tho.

Versatility

Fair

It only lacks red light therapy, but other than that you have the full pack of therapies.

Comfort

Fair

Could be better. The layer of gemstones makes it hard to lie on, but there’s some padding.

Is the Phymat Gemstones PEMF Mat Worth it?

2.9out of 5

My FInal verdict

The Phymat Gemstones PEMF Mat is the most accessible entry level choice if you love meditation and you are on a very tiny budget. While it lacks functions, and you can’t really customize your PEMF treatment, the price tag of this mat really makes up for it. If you want programs, you have to look at more expensive mats.
I would have loved to have 7 chakra gemstones and not just five, but again, for this price you can’t really complain. You still get a full-size mat with far infrared heat, negative ions and hot stones. And on top of that, they provide some nice accessories, free of charge.
In the end, this can be the mat for you if you are looking for an entry-level PEMF mat. You also have 30 days to try it, and send it back if it’s not what you expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

It costs less than most chakra mats, and what you give up for that price is mostly on the PEMF side. PEMF can only be turned on or off, while many of the more expensive mats give you programs and let you change frequency and intensity. It also has 5 chakra stones, where a complete set is 7. The price still covers far infrared heat, negative ions and hot stones, plus a carry bag and a cover. Warranty and returns are the same you get from most brands.
Each mat is rated on its PEMF technology, therapies, functions, accessories, warranty and price in my list of the best PEMF mats.

Yes, Phymat is a legitimate brand, and it has built a credible name in the wellness industry. When you buy from a brand for the first time, you want to know what happens if something goes wrong. Here you get a 2-year warranty, and a 30-day money-back guarantee if the mat turns out not to be for you. That’s what you should expect from a serious brand, and Phymat gives you both. They also put a carry bag and a cover in the box without charging for them. And if you want an extra cover later, you get a 20% discount.
There is more about the brand on my Phymat reviews page, and you can also go straight to their website.

They can, but how well they work depends on the condition you want to treat. There are scientific studies behind PEMF therapy, and the strongest research is on bone healing. For joint pain, like knee osteoarthritis, several studies found an improvement, even if they don’t all agree. For many other conditions the studies are fewer or smaller. Keep in mind that a lot of this research was done with clinical devices. Those aren’t the same thing as a mat you use at home. So the benefits are real for certain health problems, but the internet is full of inflated claims and misleading marketing.
In my article on PEMF mat benefits you can see which claims are backed by research and which ones are just advertising.

It depends on the condition you want to treat, because each one has its own frequency range and session length that work best. On this mat, though, part of the choice is already made for you. PEMF can only be turned on or off and there are no programs, so you can’t pick a specific frequency. It also stops after 20 minutes, and that becomes the length of one PEMF session. What you can decide is how many sessions you do in a day, and when. If you are new to PEMF, start with one and see how your body reacts before adding more. And if you are treating a medical condition, ask your doctor first.
My PEMF Frequency Chart shows the frequency and the session length for each condition, so you can check if yours falls inside what this mat does.

It can help. There are two ways to use it: you can place it under your mattress, or lie directly on top of it. On this mat PEMF runs for 20 minutes and then turns off. So it works as a session before you fall asleep, and not as something that runs all night. If you lie on it directly, the heat can also help you relax. Give it some time, as the studies that found an improvement lasted several weeks. The research on PEMF and sleep is still limited, but the results so far are positive.
The scientific evidence, and a weekly protocol you can follow, are in my guide on PEMF for better sleep.

Yes, there is research showing that PEMF therapy can help with osteoporosis. PEMF has a long history with bones. Doctors have used it for decades on fractures that don’t heal, and that’s where the interest in osteoporosis comes from. The studies looked mostly at bone density and pain, often in women after menopause, and several of them found improvements. In many of them PEMF was used together with the usual medication, and not instead of it. They were also done with clinical devices, over weeks of regular sessions, so don’t expect quick results from any mat. Talk to your doctor before you start, and think of the mat as something you add on top of your treatment.
For the studies and a full weekly plan made for osteoporosis, read my guide on PEMF therapy for osteoporosis.
