BEMER Reviews: Complete Guide to the Brand and Its Devices

BEMER has the kind of reputation most wellness brands would pay for. The company has been around since 1998, it’s the one name that comes up in clinics, in gyms and at the barn, and people don’t even call it PEMF when they’re talking about it. They call it BEMER therapy. Read enough BEMER reviews and you get the sense of a brand sitting slightly apart from the rest of the field, and some of that is earned. It’s the only one on my list whose device holds an FDA clearance on the PEMF itself.

So the question I had going in was a simple one: how much of that reputation comes from the research, and how much of it comes from the marketing. Everything below is what I found on the company, the clearance, the policies, and what buyers actually say.

BEMER Company History

BEMER started in 1998, in a small office in Vorarlberg, Austria, where Peter Gleim set up a company called INNOMED International AG to work on one thing: microcirculation. The first BEMER 3000 came out the year after, together with a global patent on the signal itself. That signal is still what the whole company is built on, and it is the reason people call this BEMER therapy rather than PEMF therapy.

The company took the name BEMER Int. AG in 2010 and moved to Triesen, in Liechtenstein, where it still is. The American arm, BEMER USA, was set up in Carlsbad, California in 2014 and handles everything on this side of the Atlantic.

3 Years

  • Length3 years from purchase
  • What it is2 year satisfaction guarantee plus a third year added by BEMER
  • CoversManufacturing defects on the device
  • After 3 yearsRepairs continue, at your cost

Three years is long for this category and BEMER holds the line on it. Buyers who have hit a fault a few months past the end describe being offered a paid repair or a discounted replacement, and nothing more.

HSA / FSA

Eligible

An HSA or FSA holds money your employer set aside before tax was taken out of it. Spend it on something the account covers and you keep the difference, which on a device in this price range is not small. BEMER holds 510(k) clearance K231368 as a Class II medical device, and an FDA-cleared medical device qualifies directly under IRS rules without a letter of medical necessity.

BEMER Ratings, Reviews and Complaints

Trustpilot

3.3

out of 5

21 reviews

The split is stark: 43% one star, 38% five star, and nothing at all at four. BEMER has never claimed the profile and has never invited customers to review, so everything on it is unprompted. Seven of the 21 arrived in the last twelve months.

Google

4.6

out of 5

134 reviews

This is the head office in Triesen, Liechtenstein, not a US listing. BEMER has no Google profile with reviews in the States, so the people writing here are mostly European and some of them are rating the building rather than the device.

BBB

3.77

3

complaints

26 reviews

BEMER holds an A+ and has been accredited since March 2019, but that grade measures how a company answers complaints, not what its products are like, and the accreditation is paid for. Three complaints in three years, all of them answered.

ComplaintsBoard

14 reviews

A smaller sample and a harsher one. Seven of the 14 are one star, four are five star, and the middle is empty again. All three complaints sit as unresolved, though they date from 2023 and BEMER has not claimed the profile.

site verdict

Not a customer rating

This one scores the website, not the company. Domain age, SSL, hosting and traffic, and on those it calls bemergroup.com very likely safe. The single flag it raises is that the owner hides their identity in the WHOIS record.

BEMER FAQ

No, but it is FDA cleared, and that is a different thing that almost nobody else in this category can say. BEMER holds 510(k) clearance K231368, granted in June 2023, for the device as a powered muscle stimulator.

Clearance means the FDA looked at a submission and agreed the device is substantially equivalent to something already on the market. It is not approval, it does not mean the FDA tested it, and it does not endorse anything a distributor tells you it will do for your health. But it does put BEMER above the mats that are only FDA registered, which is a filing and nothing more.

Yes. BEMER Int. AG has been trading since 1998, first as INNOMED International AG, and it holds a global patent on its signal plus an FDA clearance on the device itself. The American arm, BEMER USA LLC, was incorporated in California in September 2014 and has been BBB accredited since March 2019 with an A+ rating.

Peter Gleim, who founded it in 1998 and is still listed as founder on the company records. It is privately held and family run: the Liechtenstein commercial register lists him alongside Stella-Marys Gleim and Stephanie Gleim-Haronska.

There is no parent company above BEMER Int. AG and no outside investor on record. BEMER USA LLC in Carlsbad is a subsidiary, not a separate owner.

Three things, and they repeat. The price, which runs from $4,400 to $5,900 for the mat set. The 10% restocking fee, which comes off your refund even when the boxes go back unopened. And the warranty, where a few buyers describe a unit failing shortly after the three years run out and being offered a paid repair rather than a fix.

A fourth is not about the product at all. Some of the harshest reviews describe distributors making health claims BEMER itself does not make, and in its replies BEMER says plainly that it makes no disease claims. Reading all of it together, what stands out is how split the opinion is. On Trustpilot 43% leave one star and 38% leave five, with nobody at four, and ComplaintsBoard looks much the same. The volumes are small either way: three complaints at the BBB across three years, and three at ComplaintsBoard, the most recent of those from 2023.

Through a distributor, because there is no other way. BEMER does not sell in shops and does not run an ordinary online store. Every sale goes through one of roughly 30,000 independent distributors, each with their own BEMER hosted website. You can use my own:
marcogentile.bemergroup.com

The price is set by BEMER and every distributor sells at it, so which one you go through makes no difference to what you pay.

Yes. BEMER offers financing at checkout so you can spread the cost over time, which on a device in this price range is the difference between buying and walking away. The sets are also HSA and FSA eligible.

No. BEMER sets one price and every distributor sells at it, so there is nothing to negotiate and no code that unlocks anything. If a site is offering you a BEMER coupon, it is either out of date or it is not really BEMER.
