The Celler8 PEMF Pad stands out for one simple reason: you’re not just getting a pad. Along with it comes a compact wearable unit that clips in and out, so you have two ways to use the same device. At home you lie back and let the pad do its work. When you’re heading out, the control unit slips off and becomes a portable PEMF device you can carry with you.

That mix of convenience and versatility is what first caught my attention. You don’t often see a setup that works just as well lying down as it does on the move. In this review I’ll go through how the two parts work together, what I noticed using it day to day, and whether the design really makes a difference in practice.

1-100HzPEMF Frequency Range

PEMF frequency is the number of times per second the magnetic field pulses, and it’s counted in hertz. The Celler8 Pad runs anywhere from 1 to 100 Hz. That’s a very wide range, and it means there isn’t a treatment or condition you can’t set it up for.

60GaussPEMF Intensity

PEMF intensity is the strength of the magnetic field the device puts out, and it’s measured in gauss. The Celler8 Pad goes up to 60 Gauss, and the wearable unit up to 100 Gauss on its own. That’s high, closer to what a clinic would use, so being able to turn it down matters, and on this one you can.

3PEMF Coils

A coil is the copper winding inside the pad, and each pulse starts there, when the controller sends current through it. Having 3 of them doesn’t make the field any stronger, it makes it more even, so you get the same field across the whole surface rather than a hot spot around a single coil.

SquareWaveform

The waveform is the shape each pulse takes over time, and that shape decides how quickly the field rises and how quickly it falls away. The Celler8 uses a square wave, which switches on sharply and off just as sharply, with no ramp on either side.

What It’s Like to Own the Celler8 PEMF Pad

Everything on this page so far can be measured, and I’ve given you the numbers. What follows can’t be, and none of it tells you whether the Celler8 PEMF Pad is a good pad. What it might tell you is whether you’ll still be using it a year from now, and that’s the question worth asking.

While this is a PEMF-only device, the pad itself can be used in so many ways. It’s small and thin, so it can reach any area.

You can’t really lie on it. But if you seat on it you’ll notice that it’s soft and confortable. The control unit can be a bit heavy.

How you control it

Control Unit Wearable

The CELLER8 is the hexagonal control unit, and it puts a localized applicator, the controller and the battery into one compact device. So it’s not just a controller, it’s a wearable PEMF unit in its own right. You can wear it on your body and use it by itself or together with the pad. Put the two together and you get a “sandwich effect”, which is something no other device can do.

What Settings Does the Celler8 PEMF Pad Have?

What I like most about the Celler8 PEMF Pad is that you can use the wearable control unit and the pad at the same time, and treat the whole body in one go. When you’re on the move, you just take the wearable with you and get your session wherever you happen to be. No other pad I know of gives you this kind of versatility and convenience.

Rechargeable Battery. The CELLER8 PEMF Pad runs on the control unit, which has a rechargeable battery built in. A full charge takes around 5 hours. How long it lasts varies a lot, from 100 minutes up to 44 hours, depending on the program you pick and whether you’re running the controller on its own or with the mat connected.

Frequency control

You can fully adjust the frequency from the wearable control unit, with no restrictions. (40 Hz and above requires the device to be connected to A/C power).

Intensity control

The Celler8 control unit also lets you regulate the intensity. But not fully, you have to select one of the 8 levels (2, 4, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100%).

My FInal verdict

The Celler8 PEMF Pad gets top marks from me for its PEMF technology. It’s my favorite pad, hands down.
It isn’t the cheapest option out there, but the value is hard to argue with. You’re really getting two devices in one. There’s a wearable that puts out up to 100 Gauss on its own, so you can treat one spot while you’re out, and the pad itself with up to 60 Gauss for when you’re lying down at home. Use them separately, or put the two together and you’re treated from both sides at once.
The accessories come in the box rather than as extras, the bags, the strap and the cover, and the functions are top notch too. That’s what makes the higher price feel justified.
If it fits your budget, this one is an easy recommendation from me.

Frequently Asked Questions

On the PEMF side it comes out ahead of every other pad I’ve reviewed, mainly because no other pad gives you a wearable unit that works on its own and with the pad at the same time. Where it’s harder to justify is the price, which sits at the top end of what pads cost. So the comparison depends on what you’re after. If you want the most complete PEMF setup you can get in a pad and you can afford it, the Celler8 wins. If all you want is something to lie on at home, you’d be paying for a wearable you don’t use, and that changes the math.

Yes. Celler8 is a reputable wellness company with a good track record, and I’ve had no reason to doubt that. The policies back it up: the control unit is covered for 3 years, the pad for 2, and you get 30 days to send it back if it isn’t for you. They also publish the full user manual, which I’ve linked at the top of this page, so you can check every setting and every limit before you spend a cent. The accessories tell you something too. The strap and the cover would normally cost you $45 and $55 on their own, and Celler8 puts them in the box.

Yes, for some things, and the science behind PEMF is real, but how much you get out of it depends on what you’re treating and on you. PEMF has been studied for decades. The strongest evidence is for bone healing, where it has been used in clinics for a long time, and there’s a fair amount of research on pain and inflammation in joints and soft tissue. For sleep, recovery and general wellbeing the picture is thinner, with smaller studies and results that vary a lot from one person to the next. What you need to be careful with is the marketing. The internet is full of pads that promise to fix everything, and no device does that. A pad is a tool that can help with the right condition, used regularly, and it isn’t a replacement for a doctor.

It depends on what you’re treating, so there isn’t one answer. Low frequencies, roughly 1 to 10 Hz, are the ones for sleep, relaxation and recovery, and higher ones are for alertness and daytime use. On the Celler8 you don’t have to work this out on your own to begin with. The 4 presets are built around exactly this: Night runs at 1 to 4 Hz, Meditation at 4 to 8, Evening at 8 to 10 and Morning at 12 to 30, and the custom option lets you set anything from 1 to 100 Hz once you know what you want. As for how long, 20 to 30 minutes per session, once or twice a day, is what most brands recommend, and that’s a sensible place to start.

It can, and sleep is one of the things this pad is set up for out of the box. The Night program runs at 1 to 4 Hz, the delta range, which is the range associated with deep sleep, and the Evening program at 8 to 10 Hz is there to wind you down in the hours before bed. The pad is 16 by 19 inches, so it isn’t a full body mat, but you can put it under your pillow or lie on it directly, and since the control unit has its own battery you don’t need a cable to the wall for a night program. A session of 20 to 30 minutes before you turn the light off is the usual way to use it.

It is. At 16 by 19 inches the pad covers the lower back, which makes it a good size for the job. You lie on it, pick a program and let the 3 coils do the work, and with up to 60 Gauss on tap it has the intensity to reach deeper tissue rather than just the surface. What makes the Celler8 a bit different for back pain is the wearable unit. You can strap it to your back with the elastic strap that comes in the box and keep a session going while you go about your day, which you can’t do with a mat you have to lie on.
