The Bemer is not like any other PEMF brand. If you have spent any time in a PEMF community, you already know the reputation this system has. In this review I’ll walk you through one of their most popular applicators: the Bemer Pad.

The pad is just one of several “applicators” you can plug into the main control unit, the Bemer Box EVO. That box is a touchscreen computer in its own right. It has two outputs, and you can connect the mat, the belt, the bed sheet and the other applicators to it. And you can use two applicators simultaneously.

The Bemer EVO pad is part of the Bemer Premium set (where you get everything: bed sheet, mat, pad and all accessories) and the Classic set (pad, and either beed sheet or mat).

Bemer EVO Pad Specs and Features

Reading the Spec Sheet

10/33HzPEMF Frequency

The frequency is how many times per second the magnetic field cycles on and off, in hertz. The Bemer Box uses 10 and 33 Hz in its preset programs. You dont have any control over it, but that’s the frequency they used in their scientific trials, so there’s a reason for it.

0.1-0.35GaussPEMF Intensity Range

The intensity is the strength of the magnetic field the device generates, and it’s measured in gauss. The Bemer is a low intensity device. Again, this is backed by science. And unlike the frequency, you can adjust it.

4PEMF Coils

A coil is a winding of copper wire inside the mat, and it’s what produces the magnetic field of the mat. The Bemer belt had 4 coils for a perfect distribution of the signal.

ProprietaryWaveform

The Bemer‘s signal is a sine wave with only the top halves, one after the other. It’s patented, and it’s the most tested brand signal you can find. Check the FAQ section for more info about it.

What It’s Like to Own the Bemer EVO Pad

Everything else on this page can be measured, but what comes next cannot. This won’t settle whether the Bemer EVO is a good device, but will you still be using it a year from now? That’s the question worth asking.

Portability

Very High

Very light, very small and easy to carry. You can take this belt anywhere you go. But Bemer doesn’t provide a bag, so you have to use your own.

Versatility

Maximum

Probably the versatile PEMF device out there. When it comes to how you can use it, and what areas you can treat, the sky is the limit.

Comfort

VERY HIGH

You barely feel the presence of this belt on your body. It’s light, soft, and easy to wrap. You also get an elastricated strap for an even better fit.

Is the Bemer EVO Pad Worth it?

4.5out of 5

My FInal verdict

There’s a reason why PEMF therapy, when done with this device, is called BEMER therapy. Bemer has the widest scientific research to back it up. It’s a low-intensity device, and everything about it has been tested, studied, and proven to work. They even patented their own waveform, based on trial findings. The control unit is a touchscreen computer, and can even play your favorite music. The Bemer EVO Pad is one of the several applicators you can attach to the box. And if you have another applicator, like the mat, you can use both at the same time. The pad/belt is included with the Premium and Classic EVO sets, but can also be bought separately, if you already own a Bemer Box EVO.

Frequently Asked Questions

One thing, more than any other: the science behind it. Bemer is the only brand in this ranking whose device has both a clinical trial run on it and an FDA clearance on the PEMF itself, and each of those has its own question in this FAQ. The Bemer EVO Pad also takes the opposite road from most competitors. No gemstones, no heat, no stack of extra therapies: a pure PEMF system with a patented signal, run at deliberately low intensity. You pay for that pedigree, and whether it’s worth it depends on what you value.

Yes. Bemer’s signal is the most tested in this industry, its PEMF carries an FDA clearance, and no rival matches that record. You’ll find my complete take on my Bemer reviews page, and their official site if you want the brand’s own version.

Some of what they promise, yes. The proof is strongest where PEMF started: bones, where the FDA approved it for stubborn fractures back in 1979, and pain, where reviews of clinical trials support it, low back pain included. The promises get thinner as you move toward the wellness end of the catalog, where claims like fat burning or detox have marketing behind them and little else. So a PEMF device is a tool with a few proven jobs and a lot of hopeful ones.
My guide to the benefits of PEMF separates what the science supports from the promotional noise.

Two numbers cover most people: 20 to 30 minutes per session, and 1 or 2 sessions a day, starting at low intensity while your body adjusts. Once the habit is in place, match the timing to the goal, with evenings for sleep and the post-training hours for recovery. If you’re treating something chronic, the sessions matter less one by one and more as a streak, so protect the daily routine before you fiddle with anything else.
Past the basics, each condition has its own frequency range and session length that tend to work best. Check my PEMF Frequency Chart to find the right protocol for you.

No PEMF device is fully approved by the FDA. But Bemer is the one exception. Its PEMF function is cleared, under K231368 from June 2023, as a powered muscle stimulator that generates a temporary increase in local blood circulation in healthy leg muscles, and stimulating healthy muscles so they perform better.

BEMER doesn’t use a plain sine wave. Its signal is a sine wave with only the top halves, one after the other, at around 30 Hz and low intensity on the full-body mat. It’s patented, and it’s the most tested brand signal I found.
In one of these studies, some people got the real device, others got a fake one, and nobody was told which was which. On 37 people with multiple sclerosis, 8 minutes twice a day for 12 weeks brought the fatigue score down to 26.84 against 36.67 with the placebo, which is a real difference. Added to physiotherapy, the BEMER gave some short-term relief for low back pain and a longer-term benefit for knee osteoarthritis.

So the waveform is well tested, which is more than most other brands can say.

Yes, for one reason no other device here can match: of all the PEMF devices I review, it’s the only one that was tested on actual patients in a published clinical trial. Every other device borrows its pain claims from general PEMF research. BEMER has a trial run on its own device.

The trial took 52 people with chronic low back pain and split them into two groups. Both did therapeutic exercises for 13 weeks. One group added PEMF on a BEMER mat, 20 minutes, 3 times a week, 39 sessions in total. The other group used an identical device that delivered nothing, and nobody knew which was which.

Both groups improved, but the BEMER group improved faster, with pain and disability significantly better by week 3, while the comparison group’s pain didn’t improve significantly until week 6. By week 13 the two groups were even, and the authors concluded that PEMF was not superior to the exercises alone. What the trial shows is a faster start, not a bigger final result.

But no other PEMF device can show that kind or scientific backup, and the trial sits inside the 2022 review of 14 clinical trials behind my PEMF for back pain article.
